In the beginning....oops, wrong story...sorry about that.
I was born in Calambrone, Pisa, Italy. My father was in the Air Force, so I guess I am a bona-fide military brat. We moved a lot when I was small, until he got out of the service. After I graduated high school, I earned an Associate of Science degree from Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas. While I was there, I worked as a Peer Counselor/Tutor for the Student Support Services Tutorial Program, tutoring in Algebra, Trig, Analytic Geometry, and Calculus. To this date, that still counts as one of the most rewarding experiences I have enjoyed.
After finishing my degree there, I worked for a couple of years before returning to college full-time. During that time, I was a computer salesperson (HATED it), an inventory clerk, and a computer technician. Being a technician was fun, because it was a lot like getting to play around all day. However, after about a year of classes, I found it was interferring with my coursework, so I left that job. I worked part-time at a bank for a year, and then left because of school.
I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from University of Texas at Tyler in December of 1998. I now work as a support technician/sysadmin/whatever else they need me to do.
Sometime during the midst of all of this, I made the aquaintance of one Jonathan Stewart via a local BBS. He posted a message saying he was new, inviting people to write mail to him. I wrote to welcome him; we began exhanging e-mail and discovered we had many similar interests. Eventually, we moved to the internet for real-time chat via PowWow. At some point we decided to meet, and then started going out regularly. We were married on March 1, 1997, and yes, the sysop of the BBS attended. :-) Jon's a great guy, very generous and loving. However, he does tend to get a bit upset with inanimate objects that don't obey his will.
When I'm not at school, I tend to spend a lot of time reading or chatting on the computer. I still use PowWow sometimes, but I spend most of my time on IRC Chatnet, where my nickname is Chaya. My favored IRC client is mIRC, which seems to be a fairly popular opinion. I also have ICQ, which I find extremely convenient for exchanging messages with Jon when he's at work, as well as for talking to some of my internet friends.
I read mainly fantasy, my favorite author being Melanie
Rawn. I also enjoy the work of Morgan
Llewelyn and Anne McCaffrey. I am nuts about National
Geographic. In addition to my subscription, I also have the 30
CD set of all issues, which was a birthday present last year from Jon.
(Thanks so much!!) I'm also trying to get into collecting, but I
don't get many chances to look around for other issues. I've tried
to talk Jon into letting me take up candle-making as a hobby as well, but
he seems to have doubts about that.
